DESCRIPTION:Week 1\, Wednesday August 25th at 6pm \nBedtime Stories about Slavery and the Legacy it Left on this Nation \nBy Mr. Joseph McGill\, History and Culture Coordinator at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston\, SC and Founder of the Slave Dwelling Project \nWhat started as an attempt to bring much needed attention to extant slave dwellings\, has evolved into a movement to change narratives at historic sites throughout the nation. Eleven years ago\, McGill spent a night in a slave cabin at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens where he is currently employed. Now\, 25 states later and the District of Columbia\, McGill has spent nights in over 150 slave dwellings. McGill is joined in these sleepovers by many people from across the nation.
