SUMMARY:Week Two – Talking About Race Matters: Join the Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Week 2\, Wednesday September 1st at 6pm \nI Was Here: Reshaping the American Commemorative Landscape  \nBy Marjorie Guyon\, Artist for I Was Here\, Marshall Fields\, Community Liaison for I Was Here\, Patrick J. These emblematic Ancestor Spirits Portraits ask us to examine who we are to each other\, who we are as a nation and how we can work to heal the wound that enslavement created in our citizenship.  The project is a synthesis of history\, image\, geography\, and soundscape creating an opportunity for citizens of all ages to come face to face and heart to heart with a spiritual history rarely\, if ever\, encountered on the streets of America. \nREGISTER TODAY! \nSHARE ON FACEBOOK! \n¡COMPARTIR EN FACEBOOK! \n  \n

Now\, 25 states later and the District of Columbia\, McGill has spent nights in over 150 slave dwellings. McGill is joined in these sleepovers by many people from across the nation. Join us as we delve deep into the campfire conversations that are conducted before the sleepovers occur. \n\n\nREGISTER TODAY! \nSHARE ON FACEBOOK! SUMMARY:Historic House Museums Respond to Crisis Lecture Series
DESCRIPTION:August 5: Social Justice – Meredith Horsford and Richard Tomczak\, Dyckman Farmhouse Museum\n\n\nThe Dyckman Farmhouse Museum (DFM) has spent the last few years focusing on expanding their narrative. Like many traditional historic sites\, DFM had previously focused on the history of the wealthy white landowners. Through a grant from The New York Community Trust\, the organization has been able to rethink the story that it shares with the community both inside and outside of the museum. Meredith Horsford\, Executive Director of the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum\, and Richard Tomczak\, professor at Stony Brook University\, will share how the museum now highlights the experience and lives of people that were enslaved by the Dyckman family\, even during the global pandemic.
