First Annual NorSC Conference at Philipse Manor Hall

The Northern Slavery Collective (NorSC) is a cohort of museums and historic sites rethinking their current narratives by including the stories of enslaved and free people who lived and worked on these properties. NorSC is excited to announce its first Annual Conference to be held at Philipse Manor Hall on February 6, 2023. The conference can be attended in person or virtually.

9am: Welcome with Coffee and Light refreshments

9:30am: NorSC Presentation

9:45am: Panels 1: Experience Hot Off the Press Research

11:00am: Break

11:15am Panels 2: Experience Hot Off the Press Research

12:15pm: Boxed Lunch

Keynote Speaker (45 minutes) Lavada Nahon

  • What is new in the world of enslavement historical research

1:15pm: Round Table Charette

  • Bring your interpretive challenges and let’s brainstorm solutions

  • Fish bowl of previously submitted challenges

2:45pm: Break

3:00pm: Tour of a museum

4:30pm: Mingle at the Museum (Not available for the virtual component)

  • Get to know NorSC Members and network
